ALLENTOWN OFFICE:

Survey Assistant  McTish, Kunkel & Associates is seeking a Survey Assistant to join the Survey Team in our Allentown, PA office. This position will work directly for experienced Licensed Surveyors and collaboratively with other surveyors and engineers on projects for state, regional, local, and private clients. This position will assist and support surveyors in field surveys; compile data, notes, and drawings for accurate mapping of topography; process field data, research maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys; and perform basic calculations to verify the accuracy of survey data.  The successful candidate will have a command of fundamental surveying principles, tools, and software including a familiarity with field-to-finish automated survey workflows. MKA also performs UAS, terrestrial LiDAR scanning, and bathymetric surveys. Opportunities for career advancement are available. Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Job Duties will include the following:

  • Work as part of a survey crew to collect topography and field stake out features using various types of survey equipment such as levels, total stations, GPS, and UAS
  • Collect field notes using both paper and electronic field books
  • Process field collected data using computer software
  • Base plan creation and drafting in AutoCAD and Microstation CAD platforms
  • Research deeds and maps at the courthouse
  • Use and maintain state of the art survey equipment

HIGHWAY ENGINEER  McTish, Kunkel & Associates is seeking a Highway Engineer to join the Transportation Team in our Allentown, PA office. The successful candidate will have a background in highway and civil engineering, be skilled with Bentley InRoads and/or OpenRoads, and become an integral part of a team dedicated to the planning and engineering design of highways, intersections, interchanges, and associated infrastructure.  This position will work directly for experienced Senior Highway Engineers and collaboratively with other engineers on projects for PennDOT, regional and local agencies.  Opportunities for career advancement are available.  Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • FE/EIT/PE preferred
  • Working knowledge of AASHTO and PennDOT design specifications

WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER  McTish, Kunkel & Associates is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join the Transportation Team in our Allentown, PA office. The successful candidate will have practical knowledge in water resources engineering and conduct watershed and stormwater management design, roadway drainage design, culvert/bridge hydraulic analysis, and floodplain studies as part of transportation projects for PennDOT, regional, and local agencies.  You will also be involved in technical writing and waterway permitting.  Opportunities for career advancement including project management are available.  Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • FE/EIT required, PE preferred
  • 4+ years of water resources engineering experience
  • Experience in watershed and stormwater management, stormwater quantity and quality control measures, surface water hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, and watershed/waterway modeling
  • Working knowledge of hydrologic & hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, TR-20, and SWMM
  • Working knowledge of FEMA, PaDEP, and Army Corps of Engineers design and permitting regulations
  • Experience with Bentley InRoads and ArcGIS
  • Proficiency in MS Office software, particularly Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must for preparation of project reports

MONTOURSVILLE OFFICE:

Office Manager  McTish, Kunkel & Associates is seeking an Office/Operations Manager to lead the team in our Montoursville, PA office. The successful candidate will be responsible for office administration, business planning, financial management, technical oversight, staff development, business development, quality assurance, and client management for all services such as O&G, Municipal, Land Development and private work provided by the firm in the Montoursville area. They will also be responsible for leading and developing a group of professionals servicing state, county, municipal and private sector clients within their respective technical expertise.

Overview

      • Provide leadership and direction to grow and protect core business; add new markets, new clients and broaden the capabilities of the office.
      • Continually bring in new work and increase backlog while managing client relationships and guide the application of MKA services to best serve the interests of the client and MKA.
      • Responsible for developing and maintaining client relations, including monitoring client satisfaction.
      • Serve as the “face of McTish, Kunkel & Associates” to the local and regional community.
      • Responsible for managing office staff in various marketing, finance, office administration, production and technical departments.
      • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
      • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
      • Be responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional MKA staff and office leadership.
      • Participate in formulating and administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives.
      • Review analyses of project and production activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.
      • Responsible for creating and monitoring office operating budget.
      • Provide leadership and direction by mentoring and motivating staff on issues such as performance feedback, technical guidance, financial management, and client relations.
      • Identify and develop emerging talent and leadership to create upward opportunity and succession planning.
      • Participate in internal and external professional development activities.
      • Accountable for market metrics including, but not limited to: Revenue and Office Profit, New Work Added and Backlog and Headcount

      • 15+ years in Engineering or Project Management

CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN  McTish, Kunkel & Associates is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician for an entry-level technical role that can work within various engineering fields including site development, municipal engineering, surveying, transportation and oil and gas in our Montoursville office. The Civil Engineering Technician will assist engineers in designing and compiling drawings and permit packages. They will also be responsible to complete simple to intermediate plan sets and drawings.

      • Uses AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software programs to develop technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings that meet established drafting standards
      • Reviews work to ensure accuracy, makes corrections to work from red lines, and backchecks
      • Performs tasks within established budget
      • Maintains documentation and project records
      • Provides technical coordination with other disciplines as assigned by Project Manager
      • Assists with simple design calculations, calculates quantities, reviews technical specifications, and prepares cost estimates
      • Utilizes quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissions

The right candidate should meet the following requirements:

      • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Civil Engineering or Surveying.
      • Experience: Zero to four years-job related experience

TRANSPORTATION CONSTRUCTION INSPECTORS/MANAGERS McTish, Kunkel and Associates is currently accepting resumes for Transportation Construction Inspectors (TCI), Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors (TCIS) and Transportation Construction Managers (TCM) for roadway and bridge construction projects throughout Pennsylvania. PennDOT and PA Turnpike Project experience is preferred. BSCE graduates with E.I.T. and P.E.s are needed and those certified in NICET, NECEPT, PennDOT Concrete and PennDOT CDS NextGen too.
